China Post is the state postal operator of China and the carrier behind a very large share of low-cost parcels sent from Chinese sellers to buyers worldwide. Its international e-commerce items travel through China Post's own network to the border, then enter the destination country's postal system for delivery — USPS in the United States, Royal Mail in the UK, Correos in Spain, and so on.
EMS is the express arm associated with the China Post group and moves faster than ordinary registered airmail. Most marketplace orders, however, travel on economy services, which are cheap precisely because they are slow and lightly scanned.
Tracking number format: International items commonly use the UPU S10 format: two letters, nine digits and the country code CN (for example RA000000000CN). Other letter-and-digit formats appear on e-commerce services, and numbers beginning ZS followed by 11 digits are usually moving through the China Post network.

Numbers that begin with ZS followed by eleven digits are, in practice, most often travelling through the China Post network, even when the seller labelled the shipment with a different consolidator's name. That mismatch is normal on cross-border orders: the company that collected the parcel and the network that actually carries it are frequently not the same. Tracking such a number on a multi-carrier platform is the quickest way to see which network is currently reporting scans.
Economy international post is scanned at a handful of points, not continuously. After the departure scan from China, it is common to see nothing at all until the parcel arrives in the destination country and the local post picks it up — and that stretch can genuinely run one to several weeks depending on the lane and on air capacity. Long silence in the middle is expected; long silence after an arrival scan is the case worth chasing.
There is a wide range, and the service matters more than the distance. EMS moves in a matter of days to a couple of weeks; ordinary registered airmail and e-commerce economy services routinely take several weeks, and can take longer during peak retail seasons. The countdown starts at the first carrier scan, not when you paid — sellers often create a label days before the parcel is actually handed over.
Your own national post, in most cases. China Post carries the item to the destination country and hands it to the local postal operator, so the final events on your tracking will usually carry that carrier's wording. Some destinations also issue their own domestic number; if your original number goes quiet right after an arrival scan, that local number is where the remaining events are.
